Build P7

Turnpike Impacts

Continued Work 2023

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Work continues for the Fenway Center Phase II (Parcel 7). The work is completed overnight between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. The roadway has been restriped to shift the existing three travel lanes slightly away from the median with reduced lane widths. This restriping has been performed to accommodate a long-term work zone in the closed left (high speed) lane established with barrier. The work zone will accommodate the construction of foundations and support columns for the future deck and buildings over I-90 and Lansdowne Station. The deck will enclose the area over I-90 between Brookline Avenue and Beacon Street and there will be two buildings at 12 and 22 stories, respectively, constructed over the deck.

As construction advances, the long-term lane closures will be relocated to the left hand (fast) lane in each direction to accommodate foundation construction within the median of I-90 and the overhead deck.

If you are a regular traveler on the Turnpike, you’re accustomed to the current lane configuration and this change will not affect the number of available travel lanes. We ask that you, please pay extra attention to your speed, lane markings, traffic signage, barriers, and any police or construction workers you see as this change is implemented. Additional overnight lane reductions will continue be used to shorten the duration of work where feasible and permitted, to reduce overall impacts to daily commuters on the highway.

Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Drivers who are traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution.

All scheduled work is weather dependent and may be impacted due to an emergency.
